Sweet Reads: Where Books Meet Bakes

Sweet Reads is a cookbook series that blends two of my favorite things—literature and dessert. Every recipe is inspired by a book, designed to capture a story’s spirit in flavor, texture, and style. From concept and recipe development to photography, design, and prepress, I handled every step of bringing these books to life.

Concept & Vision

What if you could taste a story? Sweet Reads began with that question. Each recipe is paired with a book, whether it’s a sharp citrus tart echoing thorny romance or a cloud-soft cake inspired by sky-high adventure. The goal was simple: spark the imagination as much as the appetite.

The Journey

Book One: A Literary Cookbook

Created during the pandemic, the first Sweet Reads was raw, heartfelt, and deeply personal. It was a love letter to reading and baking, and an experiment in weaving words into recipes. With 52 bakes inspired by 52 books—one for every week of the year—the book captured a wide range of voices, moods, and flavors.

Book Two: Faraway Fantasies

The second book pushed the vision further. Focused on fantasy, folklore, and myths, it’s sharper, more intentional, and more imaginative. The pairings are deeper, the recipes more refined, and the photography and design more cohesive. It represents the evolution of Sweet Reads from a passion project into a fully realized creative series.
